The McConahay Building at 1127 East 31st Street in Kansas City, Missouri, holds a unique place in animation history as the site of Walt Disney’s first professional studio: Laugh-O-Gram Films. Designed by Nelle E. Peters and completed in 1922, the two-story tapestry brick building was part of a once-thriving commercial district along the Troost corridor. On the second floor, in a modest five-room suite, Walt Disney laid the foundation for a career that would later reshape global entertainment.
