The Ridenour-Baker Grocery Company Building, more commonly known in modern times as the Weld Wheel Building, is a testament to the resilient spirit and industrial prowess of early 20th-century Kansas City.
Consisting of four interconnected blocks constructed between 1910 and 1919, this building exemplifies the robust commercial architecture that emerged in the West Bottoms area following a series of catastrophic floods and fires.
This building is scheduled to be demolished by implosion on Sunday, May 19th, marking the end of life for the 100+ year old building. Today, we’re taking one last look at the historic structure with modern day photos, historic drawings, and a video tour.
