By the 1910s, the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company had established regional offices across the country and abroad. In 1915, the company constructed the Firestone Building at 20th and Grand Boulevard in Kansas City, representing its largest investment in a single city at $300,000. Harvey S. Firestone, the company's founder, selected Kansas City due to its thriving farming industry and growing use of motor vehicles, making it an ideal market for tires.
