The Stine & McClure Undertaking Company Building, located at 924–926 Oak Street in downtown Kansas City, is the city’s only known example of Neo-Egyptian commercial architecture. Completed in 1912 and designed by prominent local architect John McKecknie, the building was commissioned by one of Kansas City’s oldest funeral service providers. Its stylistic references to ancient Egyptian tombs made it an appropriate and symbolic home for a mortuary business.
