Pickwick Plaza

933 McGee St, Kansas City, MO 64106 (Map)
Built: 1930
Architect/Style: Wight & Wight // Art Deco
Area: Downtown - Financial District

Pickwick Plaza, a towering symbol of Kansas City’s architectural and historical heritage, has long stood as a beacon of innovation in urban design. Built in 1930, this massive 360,000 square-foot complex towers over a city block on the eastern edge of Kansas City’s business district.

Originally envisioned as a mixed-use urban center, Pickwick Plaza housed a hotel, office spaces, a parking garage, a regional bus terminal, ground-level retail storefronts, a restaurant, and even a radio studio. Its strategic location near local and federal government buildings made it a popular destination for both locals and visitors.
